Arthur was the fifth child of ten children and the third son of Richard Du Cane (1821-1904) and Charlotte Maria Guest (1834-1902). He never married. Per his will, his three residences were Fittleworth House near Pulborough in Sussex, 15 Welbeck House on Wigmore Street in Marylebone and Pinners Hall on Austin Friars both in London. He died at Caer Gwent Nursing Home on Wykeham Road in Worthing, Sussex.

Grave marker is a very small rectangle rock stone.
