Mr. Herbert Eugene Reese, 50, of 3539 Milledgeville Road, Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest Friday, May 6, 1988, in Columbia County. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Thomas L. King Funeral Home, Martinez, with the Rev. Barry Clanton officiating. Burial will be in Passworth Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jackie Chavous, Sterling Reese, David Lampp, Earl Powell, Tommy Price, Andy Anderson, Royce Anderson and Bob Hughes Honorary pallbearers will be Cole W. Cooper, Floyd Bridges. Terry Andrews and drivers from the Gordon Park and Modoc Speedways. Mr. Reese was a lifelong resident of Richmond County. He was self employed in the race car industry, having made fiberglass automobile shells. He was a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Faye Virginia Nichols Reese; his mother, Lizzie Chavous Reese, Augusta; a daughter, Virginia Gunter, Augusta; two brothers, Sterling Reese and Franklin Reese, both of Augusta; and five sisters, Elizabeth Murphy, Willie Mae Cothern, Maggie Callender and Nancy Rodgers, all of Augusta, and Ella Book, Monterey, La.
