Mr. Auman was born in Randolph County on November 10, 1937, to Leland and Cletus Freeman Auman.
He retired from Luck's, Inc. as a truck driver with 40 years of service. He also worked at Johnny Allen's sawmill.
He loved to collect John Deere tractors. He enjoyed riding in parades along with his family by his side. He also enjoyed going to Lake Tillery and riding on the pontoon boat with family and friends. During his younger years, he enjoyed spending Sunday's with family playing baseball at the family ballfield. Then later in life, he took a front seat behind the fence cheering his grandchildren while they were on the field playing. He enjoyed the hugs and time spent with his many beloved nieces and nephews picking and laughing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings and their spouses, Vivian and Paul Hinesley, Mae and James Davis, Robert and Ida Auman, Virginia and Jesse Phillips, Treece and Lessie Auman, Clarence and Eva Auman, Blanche and D.R. Nall, Betty Jean Auman, and R.H. Auman.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Davis Auman, of the home; sons and wives, James and Janet Auman of Asheboro, Ray and Robin Auman, Vance and Emily Auman, and Louis Auman, all of Seagrove; daughter and husband, Sugar and Bobby Berry, of Seagrove; grandchildren, Jenney, Trenton, M.J., Holly, Matt, Lauren, Landon, Luke, Chelsey, and Hagen; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Ian, Leah, Axel, Owen, Eli, Raven, and Corbin; great-great-grandchild, Skyler; brothers and wives, Boyd and Verlene Auman, and Franklin and Pat Auman; and sister, Lucy Ann Maness.
