MRS. F. L. HICKS WAR MOTHER, DIES AT NEW HOPE - MRS. ANNA B. SEWARD HICKS, 60, wife of F. L. Hicks, died Friday, September 26, at her home near New Hope. She had been ill for five months, spending three weeks in St. Joseph Infirmary, Louisville. Mr. and Mrs. Hicks celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in August. She was born and reared in Nelson County. Surviving are her husband; five daughters, Mrs. Norma Colvin, Mrs. Nancy Brian, Mrs. Dotty Porter, all of Louisville; Mrs. Inez Brown, of Bardstown; Miss Shirley Ann Hicks, New Hope, who is a senior at Bethlehem Academy, Bardstown; three sons, Jesse and Ernest Hicks, Louisville, and Fred Hicks, New Hope. A fourth son, Howard was killed in Germany in World War II. Mrs. Hicks also has 10 grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday, September 29, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent dePaul Church, New Hope, with Rev. John Bancroft officiating at the high Requiem Mass. Interment was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Henry Lee Rust, Gordon Newton, Garland Newton, Louis Hall, Marvin Hall and Lawrence Hall. The senior class of Bethlehem Academy formed a guard of honor for the funeral procession.
