MARY INEZ BROWN, 88, Bardstown, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at Life Care Center. She was born July 25, 1917, in New Hope. She was a 1936 graduate of New Hope High School, a lifelong homemaker, a respected antique dealer for 35 years, and retired from Nazareth after 20 years of service as a switchboard operator. She was a member of St. Gregory Parish where she was a former member of the Altar Society. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Philip Leon Brown; her parents, Francis Leonard and Anna Belle Seward Hicks; four brothers, Howard Hicks, Fred Hicks, Ernie Hicks and Jessie Hicks; and two sisters, Norma Colvin and Nancy Bryan. Survivors include a son, Danny Brown, Woodlawn; three daughters, Barbara Downs, Louisville, and Valerie Keeling and Phyllis Brown, both of Bardstown; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Porter, New Hope, and Shirley Allgeier, Louisville; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory Church with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mann and Greenwell Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. conducted by Deacon Joe Livers.
