KENTUCKY STANDARD OBITUARY - 10/11/1985
Francis Jesse Hicks, 74, of 1329 Jordan Ave., Dayton, Ohio died Saturday, Oct. 5, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton after an illness. Born in Nelson County in 1910, Hicks was the son of Francis and Anna Bell Seward Hicks. Survivors include his wife, Mattie L. Hicks; two sons, Terry Hicks and Charles A. Hicks, all of Dayton; one daughter, Frances Haddock of Norfolk, Va.; two brothers, Fred Hicks of Nelson County, and Earnest Hicks of Louisville; four sisters, Norma Colvin and Shirley Allgeier, both of Louisville, Inez Brown of Cox's Creek, and Dorothy Porter of New Hope; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Lyon Funeral home in Campbellsville, with burial in Brookside Cemetery. The Rev. Gilbert Sapp officiated. Pallbearers were Joseph L. Mattingly, Larry Hicks, Omar Stubbs, Bernard Wade, Donald Hicks and Phil Brown.
