Marriage 1:
Sarah Skinner to John Wesley Wells on 28 Jan 1819 in Montgomery County, Ohio

Marriage 2:
Sarah Wells to Isaiah Brooks on 5 Jan 1844 in Miami County, Ohio

History of Miami County, Ohio Pub 1880 Pg 669 - 670
In a bio for her nephew S. S. Wells after it states he is the son of Silas Wells and Alesa Skinner it then states: "very few of the pioneers are now living who first settled the Miami Valley, but Mrs. Sarah Brooks, an aunt of Mr. Wells, can almost claim that distinction, as she is past 81 years of age, and is hale and vigorous; she was born in North Carolina in 1799, and her memory is as bright as though she was only 20; many things of interest can be learned from her concerning early times in Ohio; she was a daughter of Thomas and Sarah Skinner, and was married to John W. Wells in 1818, they being the parents of the following children; John W., Elbert, William H. H., Kitty F., Martha, Isabella and Elizabeth. Mrs. Skinner's father died in 1862, and her mother in 1842. She was married to Isaiah Brooks in 1843; they had no children; he died in 1872. The family is a large one, and they are good and honest people." [Note: the death dates are off in this bio as Thomas Skinner dies about 1828, Sarah Skinner on 22 Apr 1848, and Isaiah Brooks on 16 Mar 1870. I dont believe there should be a comma between Martha Isabella as the guardianship papers indicate one child is named Martha Isabella. Four children would then be missing from the list as the Wells Family book reveals. I suspect those four children were dead or left the area before the writing. Sarah Jane is confirmed dead by her grave in 1867]

The Wells Family Book on Page 17 states: "John Wesley, the fourth son, was born October 30th, 1797, and married to Sarah Skinner, January 28th 1819. To this union were born ten sons and daughters namely: Elbert, John W., Milton, Eli, William, Mary, Elizabeth, Jane, Kitty, and Isabel."

Guardianship papers filed in 1847 for some of the minor children possibly due to an inheritance from John's estate again confirms the book is accurate and gives first and middle names in some cases. [i.e Sarah Jane, Martha Isabella, William H Harrison]

Sarah is last seen alive on the 1880 census listed below where she is living with her daughter Kitty:
Name: Sarah Brooks

Marital Status: Widowed
Father's Birthplace: Maryland
Mother's Birthplace: Maryland

The location and death date for Sarah is unknown. Possibly she is buried with one of her husbands but neither of their burial locations have been confirmed. If anyone has a death date or evidence of her burial location please submit the information with where you found it and I will post it. A likely location of her burial would seem to be the Mills/Wells Cemetery in Monroe Township of Miami County, Ohio where many members of her first husband's(John Wells) family is buried. Sarah does not appear to have any children with her second husband Isaiah Brooks. It is also noteworthy that the husband(Henry Short) of her daughter Kitty Wells whom she lives with on the last census is buried there. It would seem likely that Kitty made burial arrangements for her mother and her husband and buried her with many of the other Wells family members so based on that information Sarah's page shows the current burial location.
