The Wells Family History book as well as a bio on another grandson of the Wells, S. S. Wells , in History of Miami County, Ohio Pub 1880 Pg 669 states "his grandparents emigrated to this county in 1816, and settled near Ginghamsburg; they had six children; William, Levi, Silas, Martha, Willie and JOHN W" The Wells Family History book lists John's full name as JOHN WESLEY WELLS and states he married Sarah Skinner.
Of Samuel and Martha Oliver-Wells' six children, three of them married three children of Thomas and Sarah Skinner. This is shown by putting together the information in the book where the three marriages are listed, a bio on Sarah Skinner-Wells, and a land record for Thomas Skinner where it lists Alsey Skinner wife of Silas Wells and Sarah Skinner wife of John Wesley Wells of said Miami County Ohio as heirs along with William Skinner who is listed in the Wells family book as married to Willie Wells.
Page 17 of the book states: "John Wesley, the fourth son, was born October 30th, 1797, and married to Sarah Skinner, January 28th 1819. To this union were born ten sons and daughters namely: Elbert, John W., Milton, Eli, William, Mary, Elizabeth, Jane, Kitty, and Isabel."
John Wesley Wells dies by April 1841 as his estate is in probate in Miami County, Ohio by then. Death date and location is based on this information. On 13 Apr 1841, William Skinner, Elbert Wells, and Johnathan post bond of $2200 for John Wesley Wells' estate. Elbert Wells is listed as administrator.
Guardianship papers filed in 1847 for some of the minor children possibly due to an inheritance from John's estate again confirms the book is accurate and gives first and middle names in some cases.
His burial location has not been confirmed. It would seem logical that he would be buried in the Mills/Wells cemetery in Miami county, Ohio where his parents and other family are buried. If someone finds evidence that he is buried elsewhere or confirmation that he is buried here, please submit the information and I will post it or likewise please post a photo of the tombstone if you find one. Possibly there is a stone here with his initials.
