In 1923 James' family had to leave Cramersburg because of animal diseases, coldness, drought, dust bowls, grashopper invasions and several successive crop failures and moved to Highland, Lake County, in the northwestern part of Indiana, adjacent to Cook County and Chicago in Illinois.
His mother Jennie alias Katie died in 1924 at the age of 45 years, likely in or near Lansing, Illinois, about 6 miles west of Highland, Lake County, Indiana.
In 1930 James (15 y, born in Canada), his father Eward Leep (53 y, Holland), his siblings Garrett (24, Illinois), Antony (21, Illinois), Jane (18, Canada), Fannie (16, Canada), Sarah (13, Canada) and his grandmother Clara Leep (80, Holland) lived in Highland, Lake County, in the utter Northwestern part of Indiana, adjacent to Cook County and Chicago. In Highland came quite some Dutch settlers after the construction of a railroad.
In 1940 James Leep, 25 years aged and dairy man at a pasturising plant, lived with his wife May (21 y) and their daughter Barbara (3 y) in Hammond, Lake County, Indiana. In 1935 they lived in Highland, in the same county.
On 30 June 1941 their son James Anthony Leep was born in Hammond, who lived and died on 4 February 2000 in St. Joseph County, Indiana. He had four sisters and two brothers, maybe some of them step.
It's likely that James E. (Jim) Leep sr. divorced from May Rackett (?) and remarried to Leona ("Lee") M, born on 18 April 1924, who lived in February 2000 and March 2013 still in Cedar Lake, Lake County, Indiana, where James died in 1997 at the age of 92 years.
