Daughter of wealthy, William Cornelis Bastiaan de Fremery and Ellen Ober Campbell. One of nine children. Unmarried. A graduate of University of California at Berkeley in 1891, and later received her master's degree in mathematics. She taught school in Chowchilla, San Luis Obispo and other cities throughout California. In Chowchilla, she was the Principal. She organized the Defenders of America in 1932 and was also prominent in the East Bay League of Women Voters, where she was President. She was prominent in the Republican party. Grace de Fremery was a charter member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at University of California, Berkeley. Several of her sisters died unmarried also. They all lived together in a 17 room Victorian mansion until the last one, Amy Susan, died. The estate was lovingly referred to as "Aunt Hill" because the spinster sisters lived in the house where they were born until the day they all died.

Miss Grace Hortense de Fremery, member of a pioneer Oakland family died at the age of 90, left an estate valued at $221,396, according to a tax appraisal filed in Alameda County Superior Court.
The estate consisting principally of stock, was bequeathed in trust to four sisters, according to terms of her will dated Oct. 18, 1951.
The sisters are J. Virginie de Fremery, A. Susan de Fremery, E. Louise de Fremery, all of the family home, 77 Fairmont Avenue and Mrs. Eleanora de Fremery Minetti of Burlingame.
Miss de Fremery was for many years a teacher and principal in Chowchilla schools. Locally, she organized the national Women Defenders of America and was former president of the East Bay League of Women Voters.
