Jessie was one of nine children of William Cornelis Bastiaan de Fremery and Ellen Ober Campbell. She was one of several sisters who never married and the Organist at First Congregational Church. She was known as one of the best organists on the west coast.

After the death of all his sisters, the one and only son, Donald de Fremery born to Cornelius and Ellen de Fremery, had the home demolished so it would not become a slum as the area was becoming a bad part of town.

FOR MISS DE FREMERY

Miss Jessie Virginie de Fremery, a member of a pioneer Oakland family is dead at 97.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Tower Chapel of Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Ave., with Dr. Thomas Toler of the First Christian Church officiating.

Miss de Fremery was the daughter of William Cornelius Bastiaan de Fremery, brother of James de Fremery, for whom de Fremery park was named.

The de Fremerys emigrated from the Netherlands. Miss de Fremery lived in the old family home at 77 Fairmount Ave., until her death.

She is survived by sisters, Mrs. Eleanora Minetti of San Francisco, Miss Susan de Fremery of Oakland, Mrs. David Atkins of Pescadero, and a brother, Donald of San Rafael.

Funeral arrangements are being made by the Albert Brown Mortuary.
