Father: Louis Grotjan, b: Germany
Mother; Marie Hickman.
Missouri D/C #33487

Albert August Grotjan, son of Louis and Mary Grotjan, was born April 14, 1863, and died Oct. 25, 1945, at the age of 82 years, 6 months and 11 days.
He was united in marriage on June 3, 1882, to Lena Caroline Munson, who died August 10, 1906. To this union 8 children were born: Lon Grotjan, of Decatur, Ill., who died Dec. 28, 1938; Mrs. Ida James, of Brunswick; Minnie Louise Grotjan, who died in infancy; Edward Grotjan, of Keytesville; John L. Grotjan, of Decatur, Ill.; Mrs. Valley Jeffrey of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Freda Carr, and Gus Grotjan of Decatur, Illinois. He had fifteen grandchildren, four of whom are serving our country, and five great-grandchildren.
He also leaves to mourn his passing, one sister, Mrs. Lena Friesz, of Keytesville, and three brothers; Oscar, George and Till, of Dalton.
Several years ago he accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Methodist Church at Dalton.
For the past thirty-five years Mr. Grotjan has made his home with his oldest daughter, Mrs. Ida James, of Brunswick. All that willing hands and loving hearts could do was of no avail. God had called him for His own.
"A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our hearts,
Which never can be filled.
God in His wisdom has recalled
The boon his love has given
And though the body slumbers here
The soul is safe in Heaven."
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon at the Dalton Methodist Church, the Rev. C. C. Pritchard being in charge, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Munson cemetery.
