She was born July 8, 1923, to the late Caney and Onie Worley Payne. Mrs. Davis was also preceded in death by her husband, Cleaophas Davis; sisters, Orie Baker, Paralee Tweed, Belva Henderson, Clemmie Worley Roberts and Nellie Massey; brothers, Evin and Henry Payne, all of Madison County.
Surviving are her children, James Lee Davis and wife, Barbara, Elsie Payne and husband, Evin, and Delsie Roberts and husband, Bruce; eight grandchildren, Bridget Davis, of Weaverville, Lisa Arrington and husband, Joe, Kimberly Foxx and husband, Jamie, Angela Gosnell and husband, Kenneth, of Flag Pond, Tenn., Mark Payne, Tanya Payne Rice, Debbie Buckner, of Charlotte, and Lori Massey and husband, David; nine great-grandchildren, Parker and Sawyer Foxx, Lisa and Grayson Arrington, Derrick Massey, Travis and Hunter Rice, Ammariah Davis and Kielar Gosnell. Also surviving are her sisters, Evie Massey Payne, of Spruce Pine, and Elsie Salliotte, of Ecorse, Mich.; brother, Jerry Payne; very special friends and neighbors, Danny Blackwell and Wanda Nichols.
The funeral for Mrs. Davis will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Danny Little.
Burial will follow in Madison Hills Cemetery.
