Obituary:

George W. Arnold, one of south Miller county's well known and highly respected citizens died at his home west of Iberia early Monday morning after a long illness, due to paralysis and other complications. He and his family made their home in Panama, Okla. for several years, where he was engaged in the mercantile business. Later he moved back to Miller County , near Iberia, where he engaged in farming.

George W. Arnold, Jr., was born near Iberia, Mo., May 27, 1878 and grew to maturity in this vicinity. He was highly esteemed for the sterling qualities of his manhood and the uprightness of his life.

On December 31, 1899, he was united in marriage to Miss Isabelle Ferguson, daughter of Com. John Ferguson of Iberia. To them were born eight children, six of who are still living: Virgil of Watts, Okla., Mrs. Leslie Jones of Iberia, and Victor, Claud, Dorsey and James who are yet at home, and who, with their mother sadly mourn the loss of a loving husband and father.

Mr. Arnold had been afflicted for several years, and at times suffered greatly, but through it all was cheerful and hopeful. His hope was not only for better health in this life, but for a better life when his earthly days were ended. He closed his eyes to earthly scenes in the early morning of March 4, 1929 at the age of 50 years, 9 months and 7 days.

Funeral services were held in the Iberia Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. H. Pontius, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. W. H. Zumwalt, pastor of the Baptist church. Adams & Casey, local undertakers had charge of the body which was laid to rest in the Iberia Cemetery.
