Mrs. Ruth Jones, 79, of Iberia, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 1983, at her home. She was born March 22, 1904, at Iberia to George and Isabelle Ferguson Arnold. On June 1, 1924, she was married to Leslie Jones, who survives at home.
Mrs. Jones was a former city clerk at Iberia and also had been a teller at the Bank of Iberia. She retired from Fort Leonard Wood where she had been an office clerk. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Iberia Methodist Church and Iberia Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 547 at Iberia. She was district deputy grand matron of the OES in 1946. She also was a member of the Iberia Garden Club.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Doyle Jones of St. Louis and Donald Jones of Jefferson City; two daughters, Eva Jo Grady of Iberia and Phyllis Farnham of Tampico, Ill.; two brothers, Claude Arnold of Lebanon and Jim Arnold of Perry Fla.; and 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Charles Heidbrier officiating. Burial was in the Iberia Cemetery under the direction of Stevinson-Mossman Funeral Home. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
