Hattie Cynthia Vink, 87, of Lakefield, Minn.; died Sunday, Feb. 28, at the Worthington Regional Hospital in Worthington, Minn. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 3, at the American Reformed Church in Worthington, the Rev. Irwin Van Leeuwen officiating. Interment followed at the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.
Hattie Cynthia Vink was born July 1,1912, near Hull, to Jacob and Cynthia (Te Slaa) Vermeer. She grew up and attended rural school near Hull. Hattie graduated from Hull High School and received her Teacher's Training Certificate from Morningside College. She then taught in rural schools in the Hull area for four years.
Hattie married Harvey Vink on March 10,1938, in Hull. After their marriage, they moved to a farm near Brooten, Minn. Later they returned to Iowa and farmed near Hull and Orange City. In 1948 they moved to a farm in Elk Township near Worthington. They farmed there together for many years and continued to live on the farm after their retirement. Later she became a resident of the Doman-Rose Place in Lakefield.
Hattie was a member of the American Reformed Church in Worthington and was a member of the Mary and Martha Circle. She enjoyed music, gardening and homemaking.
Survivors include one son, Anthony (Tony) James of Lakefield; one daughter, Celia, and her husband Harold Teerink, of Worthington; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerrit Vermeer of Boyden; and one sister, Priscilla Van Ommeren of Maurice.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; four sisters, Louise Intveld, Gertrude Van Ommeren, Effie Steintjes and Johanna Kooiker; and one brother, Edward Vermeer.
