William Dewitt (W. D.) Coleman, 89, died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland with interment in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Coleman was the former Deputy Attorney General for the State of Mississippi for many years. Earlier, he practiced law with partner Dennis Dobbs of Ackerman and later was a law partner with the late Dan Lee (former Chief Justice MS Supreme Court) and others in Jackson.

Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Reaves Coleman; brothers James Plemon "J. P." Coleman (former Mississippi Governor and former Chief Judge Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals), Boyce Coleman; and by his sister, Ellen Blaine.

Survivors include Mr. Coleman's three sons: Larry Dewitt Coleman (JoAnn) of Raymond, MS, Robert Steven Coleman (Elizabeth N.) of Madison, and Bruce Reaves Coleman (Gayla) of Madison; sister, Ruth Golden of Vaughn, MS; and three grandchildren: Jennifer Jo Burroughs (Paul), Amy Lee Coleman, and William Chadwick Coleman.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Madison Church of Christ, PO Box 1845, Gluckstadt, MS 39110.
