Mrs. Jennie Worrell Coleman, mother of J. P. Coleman, former governor of Mississippi and now a judge on the Fifth U. S. Circuit Court of Appeals, died Tuesday at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson following a lengthy illness. She was 86.
Funeral services were to be held today (Thursday) at 10 a.m. at the Fentress Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Enon Cemetery.
Mrs. Coleman, widow of Thomas Allen Coleman, was a native of Fentress and was a member of the Fentress Baptist Church. She and her late husband lived on a Choctaw County farm until his death in 1968.
In addition to J. P. Coleman, she leaves two other sons, Boyce Coleman of Pascagoula and W. D. Coleman of Jackson and deputy attorney general of Mississippi; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Golden of Vaughan; a sister, Mrs. Charles F. Prewitt of Kosciusko; two brothers, Hughey Worrell and S. B. Worrell, both of Ackerman; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Officiating ministers will be the Rev. J. B. Smith and the Rev. Dan Thompson.
Adams Funeral Home of Ackerman is in charge of arrangements.
