Wes McKain Dies of Heart Attack
The community received a severe shock Saturday evening upon learning of the sudden death of Wesley McKain. Wes, one of the well-known McKain baseball-playing brothers, was found dead later Saturday afternoon near the granart on his farm near Tescott by his son, Jim. Death was apparently caused by a heart attack while he was doing chores.

Wes played at the catcher's position and was considered one of the best catchers in this section of Kansas. He had apparently been in good health and his death came as a great shock and his death came as a great shock to his family and friends.

Wesley Arthur McKain, son of Edwin M. and Alice Lavering McKain, was born at Grenola, Kansas, October 12, 1904, and passed away at his farm home north of Tescott on December 31, 1955, at the age of 51 years, two months and 19 days.

When he was a small child he moved with his parents to the Pipe Creek neighborhood east of Delphos, where he grew to manhood.

On August 25, 1926 he was married to Aletha Somers and to this union two sons were born, Darrel Wesley, who died in infancy, and James Leon of the home.

His mother, father and two brothers preceded him in death.

He was a faithful and devoted husband and a loving and understanding father. He was a friend to everyone and was always willing to help a friend or neighbor. He loved his home and did everything in his power to make a happy, comfortable home for his family.

Survivors besides his wife and son are seven brothers; Ross of Glasco; Eugene, Everett, Jess and Clyde of Minneapolis; one sister, Mrs. J.S. Dewey of Delphos; 20 nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were held at the Methodist Church in Tescott on January 3, at 2 p.m., with the Re. W.J. VanCleve officiating. Interment was in the Delphos Cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Rex, Jack, Duane, Richard and Bob McKain and Max Dewey.
