Richard L. Fox Sr., 86, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2007, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C. He was born in Madison County to the late Claude and Gennie Allen Fox. Mr. Fox was a member of West Chester Baptist Church in Chester S.C. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WW II.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Elousie Fox; sisters, Juanita Ball, Harriette Clark, Glenna Rice, Louise Cantrell and Gennie Alice; and a brother, Carl Fox.

Mr. Fox is survived by his daughters, Louella Leighton and husband, Bobby, of Weaverville, Evelyn Hall and husband, Bill, of Weaverville, Barbara Smith and husband, Austin Jr., of Hendersonville, and Susan Nichols and husband, Olin, of York, S.C.; three sons, Richard Fox Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Rock Hill, S.C., Jimmy Fox of Rock Hill, S.C. and Jerry Fox of Chester, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; 24 greatgrandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Madge Arrowood, Claudia Green, both of Marshall and Minnie Haney, of Kingsport, Tenn.; two brothers, Wade and Paul Fox, both of Weaverville.

The funeral service will be in the Chapel of Madison Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Old Bull Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
