James Harrison Cornish, Sr., 55, of 7105 Baywood Drive, died Sunday near Goose Creek in Jefferson county. He was a native of Mercer County, a retired foreman for Struck Construction Co. and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, the former Carol Wilder; two sons, James H. Jr. and Danny D. Cornish; a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Knight; his mother, Mrs. Sarah Cornish of Lawrenceburg; five brothers, Ollie Cornish of Bordonville, La., Truman Cornish of Byran, Ohio, Clay and Russell Cornish, both of Lawrenceburg, and Bruce Cornish of Mount Washington; three sisters, Mrs. Harold Devine of McBee, S.C., Mrs. Melvin Taylor and Mrs. Lillie Taylor, both of Lawrenceburg; and three grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at M. A. Stoess & Sons Funeral Home, Crestwood, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Hillcrest Baptist Church building fund.
