Thomas was named 1975 Offensive Rookie of the Year and the with following season (1976), he topped the 1,000 rushing mark with his 1,101 yards and achieved Pro-Bowl honors. He compiled 4,196 career running yards, with 19 touchdowns. After retiring from football, he worked in the oil industry.
