Rose Marie Zappa, the mother of the late musician Frank Zappa, died Thursday. She was 91.
Mrs. Zappa died at a Burbank convalescent hospital, said her daughter, Patrice Zappa, who added that her mother had been in declining health.
Mrs. Zappa, the daughter of Italian immigrants, was born in the United States. She and her husband married in Baltimore in 1939 and moved to San Diego 15 years later.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by sons Robert and Carl and eight grandchildren.
Frank Zappa died of prostate cancer in 1993 at age 52.
