Catherine Swan, 93, of Davenport, passed away quietly on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the home of her daughter, Beverly Plude. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 12:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Memorial Fund.

Catherine was born January 25, 1922; the daughter of Stephan and Julia (Mamrycz) Soznowsky, in Luckey, OH. She married John (Curly) Swan on March 15, 1939; he preceded her in death on June 25, 1985. Catherine worked hard all her life and retired from Industrial Engineering Company in Davenport in 1981. She and Curly were members of the Davenport Moose Lodge.

She was very active with Industrial Engineering union, providing support at both the local and national levels. She also supported and attended national election meetings for the Democratic Party. In her own neighborhood, she was instrumental in managing the road fund and the neighborhood watch program. One of Catherine's biggest passions was her yard including a well-groomed lawn, lots of flower gardens, and many bird feeders attracting numerous species.

She loved spending time with her family, attending family reunions, taking care of her dogs, gardening, bingo, bowling and playing cards. Even though Catherine had Alzheimer's she was able to travel and see all her family and grandchildren within the last two years.

She is survived by her sister, Rose Ann (Marvin) Harrell, Perrysburg, OH; her four children: Banks (Betty) Swan, The Villages, FL; Beverly Plude, Davenport; Marylou (Larry) Lakers, Davenport; stepson, John Swan, The Villages, FL and close family friend and caregiver, Deborah Ann Rogers, Davenport; seven grandchildren: Lisa (Matt) Wince, Shyla (Todd) Allard, Terrance Swan, Melissa (Chris) Sipple; Christopher (Karin) Plude; Matthew (Angela) Plude and Heather (Jason) Zoubek; sixteen great grandchildren: Trevor and Rachel Wince, Anson and Nate Allard, Alex and Chesney Sipple, Madalyn, John and Katie Plude; Olivia and Isabella Plude; Tyler and Aaron Zoubek; Jessica and Ryan Venden and Angela Langston; and two great grandchildren: Ryleigh and Connor Venden.
