Early Life: Marilyn was born January 24, 1933, in Provo, Utah, to Mark Amos and Jennie Leffler Brown. She graduated from BY High School and attended Brigham Young University.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On June 26, 1952, Marilyn married William H. Cowley in the Manti Utah Temple. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Marilyn had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ. She loved serving the youth, women, and musical callings. She was also a stake Relief Society president. She sang with the Chauntenette Women's Chorus for many, many years where she held numerous positions. She had a strong passion as a literacy specialist for the Orem Family Literacy Center, spending endless hours teaching students to read and write. She enjoyed serving and being with her family. She was very compassionate and kind to all she met. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Marilyn Brown Cowley, finished her mortal ministry on December 24, 2014, following a nine-year battle with cancer. She was 81.
Survived By: Her sweetheart of 62 years; children: Mark (Karalean), Blair (Lisa), Dale (Annette) and Karen (Ed) Payne; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Gailia Anderson, of St. George.
