Born the youngest of 4 daughters to Mark A. and Jennie Leffler Brown in Springville UT. The family moved to Provo while she was still young. there was always music in her home, and she loved to sing. She excelled in school and developed a love for art. Weekends and summers she spent roller skating and horseback riding at her sisters house.

After graduating Provo High in 1954 she worked at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon where she met Jim Anderson. They were married Dec. 29, 1954 in Provo, then sealed the following year at the Manti Temple.

Their first years they moved a lot following construction jobs. After their 2nd child was born Jim got a job with Mountain Bell Telephone Co. and sent to Kanab. Three more children were born while in Kanab. They fell in love with the town and its people and were blessed with many lifetime friends. Jim was transferred to Cedar City UT where a 6th child was born in 1967.

After 4 years they took the opportunity to return to Kanab. Mom worked where she could to help support. While in Cedar she cooked at a care center and took in ironing. In Kanab she worked at a sewing plant and Parry Lodge doing laundry.

Later they started Jimbo's, the first catered Dutch Oven Dinner in Kanab, through Parry Lodge.

In 1985 they sold their home and purchased a 5th wheel trailer and hit the road - something they had always wanted to do, but they always came home. She loved creating. Her love of art & singing was her passion and she loved sharing it with others.

She is survived by children; Gailia, Louise, James, Ann and Jean.

She is preceded by her husband, James, daughter Christine, her parents and all her sisters, Ramona, Marilyn and Beverly.

Our beautiful mother and grandmother, Gailia Anderson, surrounded by her earthly family joined our father in their heavenly home on October 30, 2017.

Gailia was born the youngest of four daughters to Mark A and Jennie Leffler Brown on July 12, 1935, in Springville, Utah.

The family moved to Provo, Utah while she was still young.

There was always music in her home and she loved to sing.

In school she excelled and developed her love of Art.

On the weekends and summers she loved roller skating and riding horses at her sister's home.

She graduated Provo High in 1954.

In 1953 she went to work the summer at North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

While there she met Jim Anderson, her future husband.

They were married December 29, 1954, in Provo, Utah.

They were sealed for time and eternity in the Manti Temple the following September.

The first few years they moved a lot following construction jobs.

After their second child was born, Jim got a job with Mountain Bell Telephone Company and was sent to Kanab, Utah.

Three more children joined the family over the years.

They fell in love with the town and the people and were blessed with many lifetime friends.

Jim was transferred to the Cedar City office in 1966.

They were blessed with their sixth child in 1967.

After four years they took the opportunity to return to Kanab.

Survivors include children Gailia (Robert) Burrows of Washington, Utah, Louise (Robert) Talbot of Page AZ, James Anderson of Kanab, Utah, Ann (Glenn) Eaton of Enoch, Utah and Jean (Robert) Kerns of Riverton, Utah, twenty nine grandchildren and thirty two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband James A. Anderson, daughter, Christine Anderson, her parents, sisters, Ramona Nielsen, Marilyn Cowley, Beverly Brown.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday November 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM in Kanab at the Kanab Stake Center.

Viewing will be 9:30 to 10:45.

Burial will be in the Kanab Cemetery.

Arrangements were made with Mosdell Mortuary.
