Wille was the son of Jesse Rice & Margaret Messer Rice Clark Hensley, and a twin to Walter Rice. He and Walter were both living in a nursing home in Bay Pines, FL, at the time of his death.

He was a veteran of World War I and had once worked for the Barnum & Bailey Circus.

At the time of his death, he was survived by a daughter, Billie Gail Atwell, and three sons, Paul, John, and Walter Rice, all of Asheville, a sister, Cora Lewis of Jonesboro, TN; and his twin brother Walter Rice, also of Bay Pines, FL.

His funeral was held on Tuesday, February 3, 1987, graveside at Ramsey Cemetery.
