Haring Leep was born in 1858 in Sint Annaparochie, the largest village and seat of municipality Het Bildt, in the northwestern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland,
the last of six children of the 37 years aged shopkeeper Anne Leep and Grietje Veenstra and named for his maternal grandfather Haring Tjallings Veenstra.

Haring Leep, in March 1878 a workman, (still) residing in his birthplace Sint Annaparochie, had to serve for five years in the Dutch National Army, from 6 May 1878 until 5 May 1883 in the 1st Regiment Infanterie. His description read: length 1 meter 727 millimeters, oval face, common forehead and nose, blue eyes, round chin, blond hair and eyebrows, no noticeable signs.

The 23 years aged laborer Haring Leep married on 18 mei 1882, so still in the army, in his birth and residence place Sint Annaparochie to the three years younger Antje Visser, born in Sint Annaparochie too, daughter of laborer Rienk Visser and Trijntje Bil.

On 28 July 1887 their daughter Trijntje was born in Sint Annaparochie and on 26 January 1898 daughter Grietje. Haring was at the time of both births a laborer.

Haring Leep died on 2 May 1936 at the age of 77 years in his residence place Leeuwarden, the capital of the province Friesland, husband of Antje Visser, who died in 1950 at the age of 88 years. The death date on Haring's gravestone, 1 May 1935, is quite wrong (!?).

Because Haring Leep's only brother Klaas emigrated in 1893 to the USA and Haring had "only" two daughters, this Frisian family Leep died out in the Netherlands (in the male "surname" line).
