ARCHDALE, N.C. | Ethel Roberts-McCormick, 86, left this earth on Saturday, July 5, 2008 to go be with her God.

A native of Horry County, South Carolina, she was born July 14, 1921, a daughter of the late J. H. Roberts and the late Florrie Richardson Roberts.

Before moving to High Point in 2003, she had lived in Conway most of her life and was a member of Juniper Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Archie and Lonnie Roberts; and sisters, Pauline Cook and Thelma Hart.

Her first marriage was to the late Burrough Roberts, who died in 1971. Her second marriage in 1991 was to the late George McCormick, who died in 2002.

Surviving are daughters, Margaret R. Williams of Archdale, N.C., and Janet Gaye English and her husband, Kevin, of Trinity, N.C.; granddaughter, Lynne Sullivan and her husband, Darren, of Thomasville, N.C.; grandson, James Bryan Hughes of Trinity, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Alex Hoover; and sisters, Maybell Coats of Wampee, Eloise James and her husband, McKeever, of Conway, Allene Singleton of Galivants Ferry, Pearl Martin and her husband, Douglas, of Omaha, Neb. Also surviving are many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2008 in the chapel of Goldfinch Funeral Home of Conway. Burial will be in Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 in the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at GrayBrier Nursing and Retirement Center in Archdale, N.C.
