The entire New Bethel Community was saddened Friday in the death of MRS. JANE ELROD, 73. She had been ill for about 6 weeks suffering from leakage of the heart.
Mrs. Elrod was a native of Franklin County, and through many deeds of kindness, a quiet and unassuming nature, had endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact.
Funeral services were conducted from Hunters Creek Church Saturday morning at 11 o'clock by Rev. Mr. Lancaster of Carnesville, after which interment was made in the church cemetery.
Surviving Mrs. Elrod are the following children: Mrs. Vira Andrews, Mrs. Estelle Mitchell, Mrs. Dora Hamby, Mrs. Amer Bell, Sanford, Lum and Lon Elrod. She also has one sister, Mrs. Martha Gordon of Seneca, SC; 46 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
The Herald extends sympathy to all of those relatives in the passing of this grand old lady.
B. D. Ginn had charge of arrangements.
