Belle Ford Christie, 82, died at 2 AM Monday [Aug. 29, 1986] in Lafayette Home Hospital. Born April 9, 1904, at Marion, she spent most of her life in Lafayette. She married George C. Christie on Sept. 11, 1921, in Lafayette, and he survives.

Mrs. Christie was employed 26 years at O'Rear's Bakery, retiring in 1984. She had been a member of Hope Chapel Presbyterian Church over 50 years and served in many capacities at the church. She had been a member of American Red Cross Chapter House since World War II, and had been a Pink Lady volunteer at Lafayette Home Hospital for many ears. She was given the Governor's Volunteer Action Award in 1979 and 1982. She also received the Eulora Andrew Award in 1984.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Mary (Mrs. Marvin) Courtney of Lafayette and Martha (Mrs. Arnold) Pinkos of Hinsdale, IL; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Moser of Warsaw, Mary Jane Uner of Clearwater, FL, Mrs. Mabel Goonen of Orlando, FL, Alice Berry of Palm Desert, CA, and Helen Netherton of Concord, CA; five brothers, Leslie Ford, Max Ford, both of Lafayette, Norman Ford of Palm Desert, CA, Francis Ford of Simi, CA, and Gordon Ford of Orlando, FL; four grandsons and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by an infants son and daughter.
