Willa Boyd Marshall, 94, passed away July 11, 2012, at Mount Pleasant Manor in Mount Pleasant, SC. Willa was born February 28, 1918, in Andrews, SC, daughter of the late Thomas Lee Boyd and Bluhma Loryea Boyd. Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Sunday, July 15, 2012, in the chapel of Williamsburg Funeral Home in Kingstree, with burial in Spring Gulley Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home one hour before the service.

Ms. Marshall resided in Columbia for 45 years before moving to Charleston in her final years. In Columbia, she was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church and the Joy Sunday School Class. She worked in the retail business for many years in Columbia. She was passionate about her family, especially her three grandchildren and also loved gardening. In her later years, as a resident at the Finley House, she was loved by many who depended on her kindness in transporting and assisting them in daily activities. Ms. Marshall was an avid sports fan and had a special love for the SC Gamecocks and Atlanta Braves.

Surviving are: two daughters, Beverly Ann Marshall of Charleston and Janet Marshall Galloway of Columbia; three grandchildren, Marshall Thomas Lynch of Charleston, David Rutherford Galloway, Jr. of Charleston and Thomas Martin (Charlotte) Galloway of Columbia; one great-grandchild Mary Macrae Lynch of Charleston; two brothers, Thomas Lee Boyd, Jr. of Salters and Herbert Boyd of Mullins; one sister, Marguerite B. Taylor of Georgetown; and a sister-in-law Mona R. Boyd of Kingstree. Ms. Marshall was preceded in death by five brothers, Isaac Boyd, James Boyd, Alton Boyd, L.L. Boyd, Kenneth Boyd, one sister Bluhma Boyd Mims, and her former husband Martin Ansel Marshall.
