Mr. Sam Canerday age 93 of Winnfield, La went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2011.

Born April 29, 1918 in Calvin, La to William and Lily Canerday, Mr. Canerday was a member of the United States Army for 6 years and served in World War II. He retired from Old South Life Insurance and also worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, a newspaper deliverer for the Alexandria Daily Town Talk, Cary Salt Mine and also served on the Winn Parish Police Jury. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, gardening and socializing at the Canerday Deer Camp. Mr. Canerday was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winnfield, La.

He is proceded in death by is wife of 63 year Mrs. Ira Vee Ray Canerday. 4 Bothers, Herman, Gerald, WC and Clifford Canerday.

Those left to cherish his memory one daughter Melissa Hayes and husband Daniel of Houston, TX. one son Benny Canerday of Winnfield, La. one Brother Bobby D Canerday and wife Shirley of Calvin, La. one grandson Brian Canerday and wife Jessica of Calvin, La and 2 great grandchildren. Services are under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield, La., where the family will receive friends from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2011. Funeral services will be held at Southern Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Friday, December 16, 2011, with Rev. John Holland and Rev. C.W. Jones officiating. Interment will be at Garden Of Memories Cemetery in Winnfield, La.
