Howard John Aiken, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at The Oaks of Brevard, Brevard, North Carolina.

A native of Transylvania County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Richmond Pierce Aiken and Rozella Meece Aiken. He was also preceded in death my his sisters, Beulah Aiken Osa Aiken Whitmire and Myrtle Aiken Owens.

Mr. Aiken was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in Korea. He was retired from Ecusta Corp. and was a member of Rosman Baptist Tabernacle.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth Jamerson Aiken; daughter, Maria Aiken Franks and husband Billy of Rosman, North Carolina; son, Gary Aiken and wife Kathleen of Greenwood, South Carolina; brothers, Arthur Aiken of Rosman, North Carolina, Ray Aiken of Brevard, North Carolina, Leo Aiken of Atlanta, Georgia, Earl Aiken of Brevard, North Carolina, Paul Aiken of Balsam Grove, North Carolina, and Donald Aiken of Rosman, North Carolina; sister, Dorena Aiken Bryson of Columbus, North Carolina; grandchildren, Nathan Aiken and wife Jennifer of Virginia Beach, Virginia Aaron Aiken of Greenwood, South Carolina and Colby Franks of Rosman, North Carolina.

The funeral service will be held aat 2 p. m. at Rosman Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Alan Aiken and Rev. Ray Aiken officiating. Burial will be in Galloway Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 2 p. m. Monday at the church.
