Osa (Aiken) Whitmire, 77, of Tryon, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2001 at White Oak Manor Nursing Center in Tryon following an extended illness.
A native of Transylvania County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Richmond Pierce Aiken (1894-1965) and Rozella (Meece) Aiken (1902-1976).
She was a member of Tryon Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from Hatch Mill in Columbus, North Carolina.
Survivors include her husband, William R. Whitmire; two daughters, Hilda Whitmire of Fletcher, North Carolina, and Marilyn Hudson of Pea Ridge, North Carolina; seven brothers, Rev. Arthur Aiken, Rev. Ray Aiken, Earl Aiken of Brevard, North Carolina, Howard Aiken, Donald Aiken of Rosman, North Carolina, Paul Aiken of Balsam Grove, North Carolina, and Leo Aiken of Lyman, South Carolina; two sisters, Myrtle Owens of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Dorene Byars of Columbus, North Carolina; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, North Carolina, conducted by Pastor Ronald Fowler and the Rev. Albert Teague.
Burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus, North Carolina.
