Age 76, of Minnie, husband of Lenore McCarthy Stumbo, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at his residence. He was born June 18, 1930, in McDowell, a son of the late John Morgan and Bertha Allen Stumbo. He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the Retired Enlisted Men's Association, and a member of St. Martha's Catholic Church, Prestonsburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons: Barry Stumbo of Prestonsburg; Greg Stumbo of Allen; Kevin Stumbo of Pikeville; and Alan Stumbo of Melvin; a daughter, Renee Allen of Minnie; two brothers: John Morgan Stumbo Jr., of McDowell; and Ezra Stumbo of Columbus, Ohio; three sisters: Adeline Ward of Prestonsburg; Willodene Irwin of Huntington, West Virginia; and Justine Hess of Opeleika, Alabama; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Crabtree; and two brothers: Isom Stumbo and Charles Stumbo. Funeral services for Ancil Stumbo will be held Friday, March 9, at 11 a.m., in St. Martha's Catholic Church, in Prestonsburg, with Father Bob Damron presiding. Burial will follow in the Lucy Hall Cemetery, in McDowell, with the Hall Funeral Home, in Martin, caring for those arrangements.
