Daughter of James and Malinda Looney Benton born in the Cherokee Indian Nation, North Carolina.
Wife of William Patrick Vaughan.
Mother of Sarah S, Thomas, John, Samuel P, Mary, an infant, David, Daniel, Martha, William, Elizabeth, and Louisa Vaughan.

The book "The Vaughan Pioneers" written by Lewis E. Vaughan, date unknown, states: "The only official record of William's year of birth is an indirect one. In the 1830 census for Washington County, Arkansas, he and his wife Fereby were members of their son Samuel's household, and were both included in the 70-80 age bracket. On this basis they were both born between 1750 and 1760. Fereby Vaughan was listed in the 1850 mortality schedule for Madison County, Arkansas, her age was shown to be 105, which would make her year of birth 1745. However, an elderly female, most likely Fereby, was shown in the 80-90 age bracket in James Vaughan's household in the 1840 Washington County, Arkansas, census. Since the 1840 records are consistent, I am inclined to think they are probably correct, but that the actual age of both William and Fereby is near the upper end of the range--that is, both were born in the early 1750's."
