Solomon Wright Bennette is the son of Samuel Peter Bennett & Anne Mintz. He married Amanda M Williams on 25 May 1870 in Robeson County NC.

He was a Lieutenant in Company C, 30th North Carolina Troops. Enlisted at Camp Howard at age 29, July 18, 1861. Mustered in as private but was elected 1st Lieutenant by August 1, 1862. Wounded at Chancellorsville, Va. on May 3, 1863. Reported on duty as enrolling officer of Robeson County on April 3, 1865.
