Benjamin Bennett was a soldier in the Civil War. He enlisted for the 36th Company K "Brunswick Artillary" March 29, 1862 and was promoted to 1st Sergeant March 29. 1864. He was wounded at captured at the taking of Fort Fisher on January 15, 1865 and taken to Fort Lookout Maryland as a prisoner of war. Benjamin was released June 24, 1865 after taking the oath of allegiance.
