August 28, 1920 – April 30, 2009

Louise Dalebout, age 88, passed away peacefully at the home of her older son Michael, on April 30, 2009, due to incidence of age. She was born in Redfield, SD on August 28, 1920 to John and Hettie Belle Haley. After the passing of her mother, Louise, then age 6, was adopted and raised by her uncle and aunt , Holmes and Agnes Gabbert in Indianapolis, Id.

While attending the University of Indiana, Louise met, fell in love, and married a young soldier, Harold "Dutch" Dalebout on September 2, 1944. Following their marriage, Dutch was deployed to the European theater, and Louise relocated to Ogden, UT, where she joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

After the war, Dutch and Louise were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on Aug. 25, 1947, and moved to Springville, where Michael, LeAnn, Linda and Jim were all born. Louise returned to teaching in Springville, and she and her family moved to Orem in 1958. She taught 7th grade English, and Utah History at American Fork Junior High School, Lincoln Jr. High, and Lakeridge Jr. High, where she retired after 30 years. Through her teaching skills she touched and enriched the lives of hundreds of students.

Following retirement, Louise and Harold served an LDS mission to the Philippines in 1983. In 1985, they purchased a second residence in St. George, UT where they spent many happy winters on the golf course, and shopping at the mall. Throughout their married life, Dutch and Louise traveled the entire world, until his death in 2001.

She is survived by her children Michael (Jenny), LeAnn (Danny) Shumway, Linda (Stan) Schourup, and Jim, 18 Grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 2 granddaughters, and 1 great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Suncrest 2nd Ward located at 130 N 400 W, Orem, UT at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North in Orem, and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be held at Orem City Cemetery.
