Lincolnton, N.C. - Carl Dennis Cooper, 62, died Nov. 14, 2008, at Carolinas Medical Center?Lincoln.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at Covenant Bible Church, with burial in the South River Baptist Church Cemetery.

Dennis & Janice Cooper. Dennis loved hunting, fishing, going to the mountains, playing the guitar, old westerns, his family, and friends. He loved to laugh and make people happy. He was always there to help a needy person any time they needed help. He was the most dependable, loyal, & caring person. He was thoughtful, helpful, generous and devoted. He was hard worker all his life. He worked at Summitt's Auto Shop for High School until he took over the business. Then he went to work for Hoyle's grocery for many years and ending his career at Napa Auto Parts. He loved to feed the birds & watch them from his porch while rocking in his rocking chair. He attended Evangel Assembly of God in Gastonia then the last 20 years Covenant Bible Church where he was known as The Candy Man. He would shake the children's hands and leave a piece of candy in their palms only to see their eyes light up and smiles on their faces. After he passed a large bag of candy was passed out to the children in his honor. The children were not told of his passing because of the hurt they would feel. He loved his nephews and great nieces & nephews. He always aimed to please and be a blessing to others. He loved the Lord and being around other Christians. He love his dogs Sparky & JoeJoe and his cat Lillebelle which he rescued. He is truly missed by all who knew him. Especially his family. He is survived by his mother and 2 sisters & nephews & great nieces & nephews. Dennis we love you and miss you. I will see you in Heaven praising our Lord and Savior Jesus.
