HARRINGTON - Thomas Rodgers, 71, died at his home, 300 Garden Avenue, Fountain City, Wednesday at 3:15 a.m., after a brief illness. Member of Fountain City Methodist Church and of Bright Hope Mason and Order of Eastern Star. He would have been a mason 50 years Jan. 11. He had been in the grocery business in Fountain City for 40 years, retiring a short whole ago.
Surviving, wife, Mrs. Florence Harrington; two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Johnson, Fountain City, Mrs. F. H. Abel of Dayton, Tenn.; three sons, Joe V., John A. and T. R. Harrington Jr.; one step-son, Paul B. Proffitt, all of Fountain City; two sisters; Mrs. J. E. Moore, Inskip; Mrs. J. H. Johnson, Fountain City.
Funeral services at Fountain City Methodist Church 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Rev. T. Paul Sims, Rev. Clyde F. Watkins officiating. Interment in Lynnhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers, Fred Graves, E. G. Frezzell, L. H. Brickey, C.A. Moore, E. A. Curtis, A. H. Sharp, Members of Fidelity Bible Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Masons will have charge of services at the grave. The body will lie in state at the church two hours before services. Fountain City Man Dies After Ambulance Trip To Cast Vote
Thomas Rodgers Harrington, Fountain City grocer, died Wednesday at 3:15 a.m., only a few hours after he cast his vote at the Fountain City Fire Hall precinct where he had gone in an ambulance.
He was 71 years old and had been ill for a short time. He felt, however, aboe to be taken to the polls Tuesday to vote.
Mr. Harrington had been proprietor of a grocery store in Fountain City for 40 years. He had been a leader in Masonic circles for almost 50 years. He died, presumably of heart attack, at his home, 100 Garden Avenue.
Survivors, his widow, Mrs. Florence Harrington; two daughters, Mrs. C. H. Johnson, Fountain City; Mrs. F. H. Abel, Dayton, Tenn.; three sons, Joe V., John A., and T. R. Harrington Jr. and a stepson, Paul B. Profitt.
