Veteran Fireman Dies on the Job
OAK RIDGE. Nov. 25 (Special) - Fire Capt. John A. Harrington fell to the ground as he started to enter a house to which firemen had been called last night. He was dead when taken to Oak Ridge Hospital at 9:50 p.m., apparently of a heart attack.

The alarm which he had answered was at 116 Taylor Rd., where a mattress blazed, attributed to a heat pad on foam rubber.
Capt. Harrington was a native of Fountain City, the son of the late grocer and Mrs. T. R. Harrington Sr., and a brother of T. R. Harrington Jr., the Knoxville insurance executive. John played football at Central High School. The body was taken to Gentry's Fountain City.
He also leaves his wife, Mrs. Zena Haynes Harrington; daughters, Mrs. Reuben Sulc, Patrocineo, Brazil, and Mrs. George Harris, Sao Lez, Brazil, wives of missionaries, and Mrs. Bruce Shelley, wife of a University of Denver instructor; sisters, Mrs. Mino Johnson, Fountain City, and Mrs. Grace Abel, Dayton, Tenn.; and seven grandchildren.
