Penelope would get up at 4:00 a.m. to make breakfast for her family and the farm help. A normal breakfst consisted of 60 biscuits, sausage, ham, eggs, grits and coffee. She made syrup from sugar cane. Penelope had a negro to help with the house. They were a well know family in the community. She was a stern woman. She is buried at Damascus Baptist Church in Graceville, Florida.
