Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church or a charity of one's choice.
The former Coralie Gravitt was born June 13, 1914, in Cairo, Mo., daughter of Lagone and Margaret Jackson Gravitt. Coralie married Garland Ray Balmer March 13, 1930. He died Aug. 17, 1963. She married Norval Taylor Oct. 17, 1970. He died April 24, 1976.
Coralie served in numerous capacities, both in the Quad-Cities and in California. During World War II, she worked at John Deere, East Moline, then later moved to Burbank, Calif., to work at Lockheed Aircraft. She later returned to the Quad-Cities and was employed at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, then volunteered at Lutheran Hospital, Moline, for many years. Her life revolved around her son, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Leah Balmer, Silvis; three grandsons, Michael Balmer, New Liberia, La., David and Angie Balmer, Evansville, Wis., and Steven and Melissa Balmer, Omaha, Neb.; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Balmer, Brandi Balmer, Misty Kernan, Olivia Balmer, Anthony Balmer and Makaela Balmer; two great-great-grandsons, Damon and Marcus; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Gravitt, East Moline, and Marie Gravitt, Coal Valley; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Garland James Balmer; five sisters, Thelma, Minnie, Elsie, Nellie and Stella Mae; and five brothers, Carl, Arthur, Elmer, James and Albert.
