1Lt. Lawrence Fielding Carter (1803-37)(West Point 1825) married in 1827 in Pulaski County, Ark., Lucinda Smith (1810-60) who died in Hempstead County, Ark. Five children were Charles (1827-c62) who married in 1859, Maria Sandefur; James Hill (c1829-) who married in 1851 in Hempstead County, Martha Taylor; Lt. Lewis Fielding (1831-63) who died in the Civil War and married in 1853, Susan Frances Winn (1826-82); Eleanor L. (c1833-)(unm.); and Maria Farley Carter (c1836-ante1840).
