In memory of Mrs. Betty Carter, relict of the late Charles Carter, Esq., she was born in the town of Fredericksburg on the 23rd of February 1765 and departed this life on Good Friday the 9th of April 1830, aged 65 years. She was the daughter of Mrs. Betty Lewis, only sister of Gen. George Washington...[stone broken].
Brick restoration on which marble slabs were placed by Fort Loudoun Chapter, NSDAR.
Current restoration by Ketoctin Chapter DAR, the addition of the fence, and the marker completed in October 2020. Preservationist Kenneth Fleming completed the work. Restoration history methods archived with Ketoctin DAR, Virginia DAR, and NSDAR.
