VIRGINIA BEACH - Mrs. Hattie Ellen Barnard of 463 N. Oceana Blvd., the widow of Charlie Barnard and a native of Currituck, N.C., died Saturday in her home.
She was a member of St. Mark AME Church, Oceana, and its Deaconess Board and Huldah Tents 71.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Marion Grimstead of Norfolk, and Mrs. Mary Tucker, Mrs. Hattie Owens, and Mrs. Doris Braye of Virginia Beah; two sons, Charlie Barnard and James K. Barnard of Virginia Beach; 22 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in St. Mark AME Church, Oceana, by the Rev. A. Butts. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Gardens, Chesapeake, with Community Funeral Home, Norfolk, in charge. The body will be in church at 11 a.m. Thursday.
