James K. Barnard, of the 1500 block of Ocean Garden St. died July 26, 1995.

He was a native of Currituck County, N.C., and was the widower of Thelma R. Barnard. He was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church and the Masonic Lodge Oceana (NU)69.

Survivors include his two daughters, Janice J. Little and Bloyce Iris Barnard, both of Virginia Beach; two foster daughters, Vickie James of Virginia Beach and Barbara Howard of Norfolk; three sons, Kenneth Barnard and Kevin Barnard, both of Virginia Beach, and Garland K. Barnard of Riverside, Calif.; one foster son, Calvin James Jr. of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mary Tucker and Doris Braye, both of Virginia Beach; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mark A.M.E. Church by the Rev. Arthur M. Lawson. Burial will be on Woodlawn Memorial Garden, Norfolk. Viewing will be Sunday from 2:30 to 8 p.m. at Community Funeral Home, Virginia Beach Chapel.
