Betty was born August 3, 1934, in Yancey County, to the late William Gardner and Dora Woody Gardner.
She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was a beloved homemaker and quilter.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rondle Ervin Brittain; eight siblings; grand-niece Kayla R. Cable; and grand-nephew, Richie Collins.
She is survived by her children, Louann Woods and husband Ted, Mary J. Giles, Bobby Van McPeters and wife Laura, and Angela Dawn Coulter and husband Randy; thirteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 26, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
A graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion with Chaplain John Fowler officiating.
